Youth Giving Project: Empowering Youth Through Local Philanthropy
Inspiring the Next Generation of Community Leaders in Gallatin County, Montana
On Tuesday, twelve local youth completed the Youth Giving Project, a program by One Valley Community Foundation that empowers young leaders to make a positive impact in their community. Over a month, participants learned about local needs, volunteered, and managed a grant cycle, ultimately distributing $15,000 to nonprofits across Gallatin County.
The Youth Giving Project, made possible through a partnership with Foundant Technologies, aims to inspire the next generation by introducing them to community challenges and empowering them to play an active role in finding solutions. This year’s program was also generously supported by Andrea and Michael Manship and the Doll Family Foundation.
Celebrating 10 Years and $100,000 in Grants
This year marked a significant milestone—the 10th anniversary of the Youth Giving Project, which has now granted a total of $100,000 to local nonprofits. In 2024, funding was awarded to five organizations, including Family Promise of Gallatin Valley, Bozeman Public Library Foundation, Bienvenidos a Gallatin Valley, READ Montana, and Montana Conservation Corps, addressing vital issues like winter clothing for immigrants and free lunches for local youth.
“It is important for young people to give back to their community because we have a different perspective and can bring new insights into the conversation,” shared participant Rowan Keith.
“One Valley’s Youth Giving Project empowers future leaders to see firsthand how they can make a difference,” said Bridget Wilkinson, President & CEO of One Valley Community Foundation. “By guiding youth to learn about local needs and make impactful decisions, we’re fostering a new generation of community leaders committed to positive change.”
