Youth Giving Project

One Valley Community Foundation’s Youth Giving Project is a hands-on youth philanthropy program that empowers local students to make a positive impact. Through this initiative, young people learn about community needs, volunteer with local nonprofits, and lead a grantmaking process that distributes funding to organizations across Gallatin County.

Since its inception, Youth Giving Project has introduced hundreds of young people to the world of philanthropy, giving them the tools, knowledge, and confidence to make a real difference. Participants gain hands-on experience in identifying community challenges, reviewing grant proposals, and collaborating to distribute funding where it can have the most significant impact.

Youth Impact

10 Years of Youth-Led Philanthropy

Over the past decade, the Youth Giving Project has…

Empowered over 100 youth to become engaged community leaders and philanthropists.

Granted $100,000 to local nonprofits addressing critical issues, including food security, mental health, education, and environmental conservation.

Supported 32 local nonprofits through thoughtful, youth-led grantmaking in Gallatin County.

Encouraged youth to share fresh perspectives, develop leadership skills, and gain a deeper understanding of community needs.

It is important for young people to give back to their community because we have a different perspective and can bring new insights and thoughts into the conversation. I think we bring a lot to the table, and it’s often overlooked.

I love being a member of Youth Giving Project because it has not only exposed me to the world of philanthropy, but allowed me to form my own opinions and advocate for them! It has impacted my understanding of the importance of being an active member of my community.
