Elevating the Spirit of Giving | Mike Spiak

For Mike Spiak, giving back is more than just a feel-good act—it's a moral obligation. He recognizes the privilege he's had throughout his life and understands that not everyone is as fortunate. This understanding fuels his dedication to causes that make a positive impact. 

Mike is a board member of One Valley Community Foundation, a recurring monthly donor, and a compassionate person dedicated to giving back to his community. Originally from the Boston area, Mike's journey has taken him from the East Coast to Africa and back to the beautiful state of Montana, which he and his wife now call home. 

So, what prompted Mike to make his first gift to One Valley? One Valley's ambition to make the community the best it can be. He believes in the organization's vision and the impact it has on local nonprofits and community members. 

"My donations to One Valley Community Foundation yield a remarkable return on investment. Every dollar I contribute ripples through the community, elevating the spirit of giving and supporting various organizations."  

His favorite program to support is Give Big, a catalyst for philanthropy in the valley. Mike appreciates how it helps organizations of all capacities reach their fundraising goals, making it easier for them to carry out their missions. Looking forward, Mike hopes to see even bigger community initiatives like the Regional Housing Coalition gain momentum. He envisions concerted efforts to find solutions beyond political agendas, focusing on the greater good of the community. 

When asked what he would tell someone considering giving to One Valley, Mike emphasized the organization's ambition, the quality of its people, and the genuine passion behind their work. He highlighted One Valley's community-centric approach and vision for a better future. 

"My wish is for everyone to recognize that One Valley provides essential resources, complementing the work of numerous organizations in the valley. While they may not always be in the spotlight, their infrastructure and support are the foundation upon which countless community initiatives thrive."
